I am so sorry for the questions.just a bit confused on how to go about this. So with tricare, can he be stationed in New Mexico but can I see a dentist out of network in a different state? I am not one of those wives who marry just for benefits, so I literally have not even enrolled in tricare except for whatever basic insurance they enroll you in when you're married, and I don't use it at all.Īnother side note my current dentist is in California and does not accept anything but PPO insurance and I know tricare is HMO.but a scholarship/grant fund told me that they may cover my copays if I provide a detailed breakdown of the cost.but I live in a county in California for school and my husband lives in New Mexico, and I only go home to him on breaks and when I graduate.
I have heard from my husbands friends that if you choose the right plan it covers everything if you stick with tricare prime dental and can prove that you need the work actually done for preventative reasons and not just cosmetic (which I know implants are cosmetic but I currently had 2 front teeth removed and have a temp flipper, and it is not a permanent solution and leaves my gum and bone open for issues and is time sensitive). So my question is, does anyone know how to enroll in Tricare and which plan covers the most? I looked into tricare prime and tricare select, but when I called they were not very helpful and I feel like if I tell them I need extensive work they will not cover very much or may mislead me to choose a plan that is not beneficial for me. I am in nursing school currently at Stanford, and I am set to make pretty good money by next November with a job that will have great benefits, but right now the dental work is not in the cards for my husband and I to afford since he has only been in maybe 3 years and with school we barely make even. Its a long story so I will not elaborate, but I am probably going to pay at least 10 grand which I cant afford at the moment. So contrary to my username, I am not toothless haha, but I have had to do extensive dental work throughout my life and I recently found out that if I do not get dental implants soon I am kind of screwed.
